Practice Areas of Curl & Stahl

We are trial lawyers, limiting our practice to business, commercial, probate, and investment-related cases. We represent individuals and business/corporate clients of all sizes, and we represent both plaintiffs and defendants. Our practice includes:

| Contract disputes | Banking and lending | "Business divorce" |
| Business torts | Trade secrets and unfair competition | Construction |
| Probate | Bad investments | Mediation and Arbitration |

  • Contract disputes: We have handled disputes involving many diverse contracts, such as employment and consulting agreements, supply contracts, purchase and sale contracts, and contracts for development of natural resources.
  • Banking and lending cases: We have particular expertise in banking and lending-related cases. We frequently represent borrowers as well.
  • "Business divorce": This involves the separation of business partners or co-owners.
  • Business torts: In general, a tort is an illegal act that is not governed by a contract. Examples of business torts are fraud, interference with someone else's contract, slander of business reputation, and duress.
  • Trade secrets and unfair competition: These cases usually involve protection of proprietary knowledge and information, which may be anything from information on where to drill for natural gas to a manufacturing process. Such cases can involve either injunctive relief to prevent future disclosure of information or recovery of damages to compensate the owner of the information for loss or use of the information.
  • Construction: We have represented contractors, subcontractors, owners, and lenders in construction litigation.
  • Probate: Our firm handles all types of disputed proceedings in probate court.
  • Bad investments: Some persons who market investments (such as startup companies, limited partnerships, franchises, oil wells, and stocks and bonds) allow their desire to obtain investors to get in the way of full disclosure of all risks and other information about the investment. This may give rise to a valid claim for recovery if the investment goes bad.
  • Mediation and Arbitration: Paul Curl serves as a mediator and arbitrator on a limited basis.
